May is here and Nurses Week is finally upon us! At Freedom Healthcare, we always do our best to ensure our nurses are treated well and know their hard work is appreciated! So, as this celebratory week commences we wanted to offer up some great ways you can make nurses feel special and celebrate yourself.

Get Those Freebies!
As a token of gratitude, many websites, stores, and restaurants offer free or reduced prices on their products. Here are some of our favorites:
- Cinnabon - This sweet resort is offering a free Cinnabon Classic Roll or MiniBon roll!
- Johnson & Johnson - The well-known, family name is giving away several free items. Nurses can request free “Nurses Save Lives” and “Thank a Nurse” magnets, coloring books and more!
- Chick-Fil-A - Your favorite fast food chick spot is offering up a free chicken sandwich on May 7th with a valid healthcare ID.
- New York & Co. - Need some clothes and accessories? This big-name retailer is providing both in-store and online 30% discounts with a valid work ID.
Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner
Want to make your nursing staff feel special? Why not host a gathering with a free meal included! Provide different options, give out awards and create a rotation so all nurses can participate no matter what shift they happen to be on that week.
Take advantage of the week and use it as an opportunity to raise money for a great cause. Gather family and friends together for a walk-a-thon, food drive or any other type of donation event! Make sure to emphasize healthcare and overall nurse appreciation.
Invite A Speaker
Whether a local influencer or even a big name, have someone come talk to your nursing staff as a way to motivate and show them their hard work is well worth it. It may even be beneficial to have this person shadow your nurses to gain their own perspective and show others just what it takes to get the job done!
This is probably the most important aspect when it comes to Nurses Week - make sure your nurses enjoy themselves! Create activities, games and contests that can be incorporated into their professional development. Some quick ideas include a relay race, scrubs design contest, or a fun round of medical Jeopardy.
No matter how you decide to spend this week, make sure to show your nurses just how much they mean to you and the rest of the facility. Without nurses, the healthcare world would be a much darker place, and their daily contribution is what helps us move forward.
